Community Get Together

The community team met for some bonding time at the "Lagoon" in Redcliffe. My new partner in crime, Gee (Samoan). So blessed that she is here, not only on Island Breeze staff but also working in the schools with me. Other picture is the Community team boys playing rugby in the water.

Australia Updates

Greetings!
I have only been in Brisbane for one week but am amazed at the serving
opportunities and the visions for the future here on the base. Here
are a few highlights:
- Ship outreach Australia/Papua New Guinea
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nJQpxZN4wo)
- Trip to Vanuatu with Community Outreach and Rugby Ministry team (End
of March/April)
- Serving in Shekinah school, a church outreach for girls who are no
longer able to attend school
- Serving in the Deception Bay public school under the chaplain program
- Starting up our Tuesday Night Worship/Service Meetings
- Trip to Tinga, aborigine community this weekend

As you can see things are very busy but SO blessed. I am currently
waiting on God for three hundred dollars for my airflight ticket to
Vanuatu and am excited to experience a new culture there. The girls
that I am working with seem to enjoy my company "a REAL american" and
I feel God can use me as an example and encouragement after some more
relationship building.
Recently I was attending a church service with a Pastor from South
Africa. He has the gift of prophecy and prophesied that he saw the
gift of evangelism in me, especially to children (many many children)
and he saw black faces. How exciting! I always bring prophesies before
the Lord and am looking forward to seeing this played out in my
future. I continue in the meantime to pour myself into the many needs
here on the base and offer my experience and giftings wherever I can
serve.
Please keep in touch! Now that I have been here one week I should be
able to keep up with a blog a bit more often....(starting this
weekend!)...
Blessings.

slower internet

Safe and Sound in Australia!!!

For some reason, at the end of the month, the internet here on the
base gets extremly slow. I wanted to blog a bit more about some of the
amazing things God is doing here on the base but might have to wait.
I do have a bit of jet lag. The flight from Los Angeles to Fiji was
bumpy at least twice so didn't catch much sleep. Im so glad to be here
and feel very much at peace. Not settled in yet as I am sharing a
room until a room opens up for me on Monday. I dont mind living out of
a suitecase for a few more days. The Disciple Training School
graduates tonite so things are in full swing of getting things
prepared for that.

One new opportunity that our base in participating in is one of YWAM's
ships that will be touring Australia to raise awareness etc. It not
only is a huge opportunitiy for us to use our giftings and get the
name of Island Breeze out into the communities but the ship has
incredible impact on the nations it is involved in. The one will be
focused on Papua New Guinea. For more information you can visit
www.ywamships.org

There will be more information to come soon Im sure!!!

Travel time again

Moving to Brisbane and the cycle of blizzards occuring during my travel times has not ended :) I was supposed to be dropped off in Des Moines by my sister who lives about 45 mins out but due to blowing winds and snow forcast I spent the night at a hotel with an early morning shuttle to the airport. The one thing I will NOT miss about the midwest is having to schedule/reschedule around the weather and road conditions!
Point of interest from my journey so far was a brief stay with friends, the Dillards, in Seattle and LOVED IT! The hospitality, the conversations, the fellowship, and the beauty of Washington State (which showered me with unusually nice weather). To top it off each of my seatmates today have been christians, and out of three of them, two of them had missionary connections! One had a friend in YWAM Kona Hawai and the other has a daughter with Intervarsity serving in Melbourne. Small world when you have a BIG GOD....
My meals are abit confused right now but soon my sleep will be also.
I found out the the DTS (Discipleship Training School) will be graduating the day after I arrive and I am again AMAZED and how perfect God's timing is, even in my oblivion. So good to be there with them, one last hurrah!!
I don't know that my mind has completly shifted to Aussie being home yet but I trust God to continue in His timing and I will remain faithful...
I would say "Hello New Journey" but really it's just the next season in an ongoing " God Adventure"...

Galena

Had a wonderful weekend in Galena, viewing the Ryan house built in the 1800s, touring the downtown area and shops, soaking in some live Irish music and food... Was refreshing. Now onto the last leg before flying out to Brisbane. Since we are in another blizzard it looks like some packing, arranging finances etc will be on the agenda for the next few days! Praise God that He is in control, even of this weather!

Countdown to next move

First picture is me playing around at Megan's salon. The second picture is at Megan's new house- and really they didn't let me use those tools that could potentially cut off an extremity....

One week left before I fly out to Brisbane, Australia after stopping one day to visit supporters in Seattle, WA. Im starting to get the hang of cheap tickets, planning ahead, packing light etc... Working on last minute financial things, packing and sorting etc. This weekend Ill be going to Galena to visit a Chicago friend for the weekend. Last weekend I spent some time with my sister, Megan, enjoying her new house, new salon and spent some family time with Grandparents. Saying goodbye to them is especially difficult as I realize that health issues may come up with them while I am gone. I feel blessed to have had my grandparents be such a consistency in my life and such a support. I am looking forward to God continue great opportunities to encourage people in Australia and it sounds like the team I will be working with are already fired up about new challenges, new doors etc....
